(From the ground) The only way is up.
Du Sol means "from the ground" in French. Matcha, coffee and wheat all start in the soil, and so does everyone who walks in. The direction from there is obvious.

How it started
From the ground up.
Du sol is French for “from the ground,” and that is where this place started.
August 2026
Built from the ground up

Aug 11 Slats and counter going in
Aug 20 Still a job site
Aug 23 Lights up, almost a cafe
Third culture
Built between cultures

Third culture kids grow up between the culture of their parents and the culture around them, and end up building a third one of their own. That is the menu. Japanese tea, Vietnamese coffee and Italian bread, put together the way you would if you grew up with all three on the table.
Our house specials come on three bases, matcha, hojicha or cà phê, because the same story lands differently depending on where you are from. Most of our drinks have a story behind them. Ask us.
What we believe
Three ideas we run on
1% better every day
Every recipe, every system, every cup. Nothing is finished. Everything matters.
Beauty in imperfection
Hand-whisked, hand-poured, a little different each time. That is the point.
Enjoy it while it lasts
Seasonal drops come and go like the leaves. Have it now, remember it later.
The third place
Not home. Not work. Here.
A third place is the one that is neither home nor work: where you become a regular, run into neighbors and stay longer than you planned. We built Cafe Du Sol to be that for E Madison.
